The Story Behind Black Dog

Black Dog Tinting began in 2020 in a small garage in Belgrade, Montana, but the story started long before that.

Owner Andy Dennis has been tinting windows since 2005. Born and raised in Bozeman, Andy grew up around vehicles, spending time in and out of detail shop environments where he learned the hands-on skills that would shape his future: maintaining, modifying, repairing, and caring for cars and trucks with pride.

What started as a passion slowly grew into a craft, then into a full-time business built on quality work, honest service, and a deep love for the automotive world.

But the name Black Dog Tinting comes from something even more personal.

Andy has always loved animals, and dogs have been a constant part of his life. His first dog, a black pitbull named Rufus, was more than a pet. Rufus was his companion, shop buddy, and loyal sidekick for almost 13 years.

When Andy opened his first shop back in 2005, Rufus was always there. He had his own bed in the office, watched the work being done, greeted customers, collected pets, enjoyed snacks, and became a favorite part of the shop experience.

Through the good days and the hard ones, Rufus was by Andy's side. He never said no to an adventure. He never asked questions. He was just there: loyal, steady, and always ready to ride.

Years later, when Andy decided to open shop again, he wanted the business to carry that same spirit. Something unique. Something memorable. Something that honored the bond between people, their vehicles, and the dogs who ride shotgun through life with them.

That is how Black Dog Tinting was born.

Today, Black Dog Tinting proudly serves Bozeman, Belgrade, and the surrounding Montana valley with professional window tinting and automotive care rooted in craftsmanship, loyalty, and love for the road. It is an auto shop with a dog-loving soul, built for people who care about their vehicles, appreciate honest work, and understand that the best adventures are better with a dog by your side.
